Who We Are
Monica Bintz, M.S. Ed. and Audrey Harris, M.S. Ed.
Monica Bintz and Audrey Harris have been collaborating since 2007 and are co-founders of The Pass It On Project (read more), a dialogue with students on race, civil rights, and activism that was documented in the film The Pass It On Project (view the trailer). They have extensive experience developing and implementing curriculum and trainings for teachers, youth service providers, and young people. In addition to youth work, they are community organizers working on state and national anti-racist initiatives, specifically focusing on educational issues and are training to become core trainers and organizers with the Racial Equity Institute in Greensboro, NC.
Monica and Audrey have a combined 20 years of experience in education, including 17 years of classroom teaching experience in grades 5-12 and 4 years of experience as Deans of Students. They both hold valid teaching licenses in numerous states as well as Masters in Education (M.S. Ed.) degrees from Hunter College (Monica) and Pace University (Audrey), both in New York City. Monica is an alumnus of Teach for America (2002 Washington, DC Corps) and currently resides in Durham, NC. Audrey is an alumnus of the New York City Teaching Fellows (New York, NY 2004 Cohort) and currently resides in her hometown of Greensboro, NC, where she serves on the Achieving Educational Excellence for African American Male Students Project Team for Guilford County Schools. Most recently, Audrey was a panel member at the Implicit Bias Symposium at the International Civil Rights Center and Museum in Greensboro, NC, speaking on the effects of implicit bias in the classroom and school system.
